Mysterious death in Potsdam: was it murder or a tragic fall?
On November 3, 2025, a tragic incident in Potsdam made headlines: Ania Galinsky, a 27-year-old astrologer, died in a fatal fall on a staircase. The SOKO has started investigating and is trying to find out whether it was an accident or possibly a crime. Two glasses found near the crime scene indicate that the young woman was not alone when she fell. It is possible that her argument with a so-called “terrorist guy”, with whom she was often confronted in the stairwell, or her relationship with two suspicious men were decisive for the dramatic events.
The two suspects are Leo Hoffmann, Ania's new boyfriend, with whom she has only had three dates, and Stefan Goretzki, a candidate for the mayoral election who sought advice from Ania, but was rejected by her. While exploring the lives of the deceased, investigators Pauline and Tamara come across Priscilla, a well-known astrologer, who points a gun at the two of them. Priscilla is saddened by Ania's death, as she was planned to be a successor in the astrological consulting scene.
Exciting crime thriller experiences in Potsdam
Parallel to this criminal case, there is an interactive experience for crime fans in Potsdam: The Potsdam Crime Trail. Here participants can become investigators themselves and decide which leads they want to follow in order to solve the mysterious disappearance of Alexander Farber. The tour begins at Cecilienhof Palace, where Farber was last seen. Participants take the active role and can check alibis, combine evidence and interview witnesses while discovering Potsdam's historical sights. The concept, in which you can investigate alone or in a team, inspires both locals and tourists.
The tour not only offers an exciting insight into the investigative work, but also shows the beauty of the region, including highlights such as the New Garden and the Shell Grotto. A crime trail is a perfect leisure activity for groups, families or colleagues and can also be booked flexibly without prior notice. If you are interested in crime adventures, this is a must for any crime fanatic in the area.
Crime in the region
The most common crimes include theft, property crimes and forgery, while crimes against life, such as murder or manslaughter, are quite rare, accounting for only 0.1% of cases. Given these statistics, the discussion about security and crime remains an important topic for the population. In particular, the clearance rate, which will be 58% in 2024, is a topic of conversation, while the number of suspected perpetrators and their victims remains constantly in focus.
In these turbulent times it is once again evident that, in addition to exciting crime events, the reality of crime always remains close - be it on the streets or in the stories that fascinate us.
