SC Potsdam triumphs in overtime: dramatic derby against Berlin!

In a thrilling duel in the 1st Floorball Bundesliga, SC Potsdam defeated the Berlin Rockets with a narrow 6:5 in overtime on November 1, 2025. The first Berlin-Brandenburg derby of the season offered the 200 spectators in the hall a spectacular spectacle, which culminated in loud support from the fan groups. Thanks to this victory, Potsdam remains in ninth place in the table despite the success, while the Berlin Rockets continue to carry the red lantern, as sc-potsdam.de reports.

The game was characterized by a constant back and forth. After the first third, thanks to remarkable goals from Henry Mettovaara and Jere Hiironen for SC Potsdam as well as Leon Schweiger for the Rockets, the score was 2-2. The Potsdam players showed great effort in the first half: Mettovaara scored the first goal of the game in the 6th minute, followed by Hiironen's goal in the 8th minute. But the Rockets stuck with it and equalized with Jannes Wolff having the advantage.

A nerve-racking finale

In the second third, Ole Gerdsen was able to increase Potsdam's score to 3:2 when they were outnumbered, before Janne Makkonen made it 4:2 for the hosts in the 27th minute. However, the Berlin Rockets didn't give up and reduced the score to 3:4 in the 44th minute with Anton Weyrauch. A dramatic finale began when the Rockets took the lead to 5:4 in the final phase through Leon Schweiger and Jan Alexander Schweiger. But Makkonen secured the equalizer for Potsdam before the decision was made in overtime.

In the decisive game time, it was Mettovaara again who scored the winning goal after 2:59 minutes, giving the cheering Potsdam fans a reason to celebrate.

The style of play and the fascination of floorball

Floorball, which is played on a 40 x 20 meter field, is becoming increasingly popular. With a team of five field players and a goalkeeper playing on the floor, the dynamics of the game are characterized by speed, teamwork and individual skills. The ball and bats, which are made of plastic, add to the ease and attractiveness of the game. Floorball is particularly popular among young people, and women and girls also play a large part in the sporting community, as archive.floorball.sport explains.

With a solid audience and a dedicated community of players, floorball stands out as a fascinating team sport that is easy to learn while offering high entertainment value.

The next challenge for SC Potsdam will be in the coming weeks, while the Berlin Rockets must continue to try to improve their chances and free themselves from the last position in the table.
