Dietmar Vollert from the Lions Club announced with a smile that a generous fundraising campaign had raised a total of 10,000 euros for the cancer-stricken children Lukas and Elenie Anna. Little Lukas' parents, Tobias Mielke and Carina Grell, were visibly touched by the support they received during this difficult time. Christin Junkereit, Elenie Anna's mother, was also overwhelmed by the solidarity of the people. A moving fundraising project
The fundraising campaign began in the summer when Mayor Axel Schmidt learned of the two children's illnesses and asked the Lions Club for support. During the Brandenburg Day in September, 1,793.72 euros were already collected. Another appeal for donations brought in an additional 4,183 euros, making a total of 8,326.72 euros. The Lions Club decided to round up the amount to 10,000 euros to help the families.
The two families had already received 2,500 euros each after Brandenburg Day. These financial resources are important to cover travel costs, hospital stays, medication and additional therapies. Jens Rockenschuh, President of the Perleberg Lions Club, was pleased with the positive response and solidarity contributions from citizens.
