Art, commemoration and anniversaries: Wittenberge blooms on November 12th!

November 12, 2025 is all about commemoration and cultural exchange in Prignitz. Art lovers can look forward to the opening of the “Atelier im Schaufenster” in Wittenberge, which was brought to life by the talented artist Kerstin Becker. Here she will not only present her own work, but also offer painting and graphics courses to encourage visitors' creativity.

Particularly noteworthy is the commemoration of Kristallnacht, which received a great response in Perleberg. Around 50 people took part in the event, which was enriched by an impressive program with musical contributions from a brass ensemble and poems by students from the Marie Curie High School. This week is also dedicated to the theme week “Jewish Kaleidoscope,” which uses music and images to illuminate Jewish life in the region.

Cultural memories and economic initiatives

Another important date is November 9th, which commemorates not only the Kristallnacht pogrom of 1938, but also the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. This dark episode in German history shows how complex the legacy of the past is. Commemorative events took place on both November 7th and 9th, and the public was invited to join in the remembrances and calls of “Never again is now!”

But Prignitz doesn't just show its commitment to commemoration; There is also a lot happening on an economic level. At an information event in Pritzwalk, around 40 entrepreneurs found out about various funding programs available for investments and digitalization. The career starter fair GO! in Perleberg featured over 70 exhibitors and attracted numerous interested young people who were planning to start their professional life.

Anniversaries and community engagement

The community is not neglected either. The Quitzow village association celebrated its first anniversary and now has 59 members. At the same time, the Lebenshilfe nursing service in Wittenberge is celebrating its 15th anniversary, while the Prignitz Senior Citizens' Union is giving away a Santa visit to senior citizens' facilities. Preparations for the 2027 State Garden Show in Wittenberge are in full swing, with the commitment of 80 volunteers.

On the nature and environmental agenda is the planting of 30,000 flower bulbs in Pritzwalk to make the city bloom in spring. A new fire station is also being built in Perleberg, which is on schedule and involves an investment of 12 million euros. The cycle path on the B5 is also nearing completion after investing 900,000 euros in renovation costs.

Finally, it should be mentioned that an online portal for daycare registrations was launched in Wittenberge and the Brüder-Scholl primary school in Perleberg won the Reading Fox Cup. Meanwhile, an impressive 845 animals came together at the breed poultry show and provided insights into the diversity of our animal world.

At a time when art, history and community intertwine in so many ways, Prignitz remains a place where memories are cherished and new beginnings are celebrated. There is a lot to discover and experience for the region's citizens and visitors.
