Lotte Lehmann Academy opens in Perleberg: International flair!

The 17th Lotte Lehmann Academy opened its doors in Perleberg on August 22nd, with 15 participants from seven countries, including China, France and the USA. Mayor Axel Schmidt warmly welcomed the young talents and emphasized the special shine the academy brings to Rolandstadt. The academy, which also continues the cultural legacy of the famous soprano Lotte Lehmann, offers an extensive program and will kick off Brandenburg Day on September 12th with an open-air concert of Kurt Weill's “Street Scene”. Sparkasse Prignitz plays a central role in supporting the academy. Markus Volke, CEO of the Sparkasse, stated during their visit to Rolandstadt that they intended to give something back to the region with the sponsorship. Cultural highlights in September

Culture is very important in Perleberg, because next to the Lotte Lehmann Academy, Brandenburg Day is just around the corner. Numerous events are planned, including a concert by the state police orchestra on September 13th on the Hagenbühne. Brandenburg Day will take place from September 12th to 14th and promises to be a colorful celebration for everyone.

In addition, the first of the traditional summer concerts will be performed on August 30th in the Groß Gottschow village church at 6 p.m. Further concerts are planned in Dahses Erbhof on August 31st, in the Wittstock Sankt-Marien-Kirche on September 6th and in the Ristorante L’Italiano in Perleberg on September 7th. The summer concert series and the preparations for Brandenburg Day are not the only news in the region. On September 3rd, Horst Kern will present the book “Power in Transition” by Herfried Münkler, and despite the rain, the Neptune Festival was very well received in Pritzwalk. Another highlight was the 35th anniversary of Kathrin Kückel-Schulz’ pottery in Wittenberge.
