Mini Eiffel Tower in Alsace: A masterpiece from 10,000 hours of work!
In the picturesque region of Alsace, around 400 kilometers from Paris, a very special building is being built: a true-to-scale replica of the world-famous Eiffel Tower. The 30-meter-tall mini Eiffel Tower is being built by 75-year-old Jean-Claude Fassler, a retired metal worker. Over the last eight years he has worked tirelessly on this ambitious project, which is now finally taking shape.
Fassler's passion for the Eiffel Tower is not new; He has been dedicating himself to this replica, which is manufactured on a scale of 1:10, for around five and a half years. Supported by his family business and committed volunteers, the Alsatian native has already invested over 10,000 hours of work in this ambitious project. “This is my very personal life’s work,” explains Fassler, who was actively supported by his grandson in the planning and assembly, especially in creating the precise plans.
A masterpiece in steel and iron
More than 50 tons of steel and iron are used in its construction, and the entire process requires meticulous adherence to the dimensions and angles as laid out in Gustave Eiffel's original plans. The slightly delayed completion, originally planned for 2024, was caused by the high demands on attention to detail and the total number of individual parts required. “The top of the tower is already finished and waiting to be connected to the base,” said Fassler. This connection will provide the finishing touches to the impressive structure.
The mini Eiffel Tower will be painted in the classic style of Venice Red, a color reminiscent of the original coloring of the famous tower from 1889. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the replica, although there will be no elevator access. “The most important thing for me is that people can experience the tower in all its splendor,” emphasizes Fassler.
A dream comes true
Fassler has a big vision: He wants his replica Eiffel Tower to one day be exhibited in Paris. “I would be very happy if people there could admire my work,” he says with a smile. The enthusiasm and commitment that went into this building is evident. The Alsace region can look forward to another attraction that will hopefully soon attract tourists from all over the world.
What an exciting chapter for Jean-Claude Fassler and Alsace: where there were once only construction sites, a masterpiece is growing that could conquer the hearts of visitors. Let's stay tuned to see how this project develops!
