Two first responders suffered shock during the operation and also required medical attention. Impact and prevention
Accidents like the one in Perleberg cast a shadow on general road safety in Germany. Loud dangerous places.de Germany recorded around 2.69 million traffic accidents in 2019, with the numbers increasing again in 2020 after a pandemic-related decline. Improper driving behavior is the main cause of most accidents, and distractions caused by smartphones are particularly popular. These aspects suggest that education and prevention work are still necessary to reduce the number of traffic accidents.
In addition to the focus on traffic safety, work is also being done to improve the tourist infrastructure in the region. The new owners of the border tower in Cumlosen, which was auctioned for 156,000 euros, are planning to use the facility for tourism. Among other things, overnight accommodation and cocktails on the roof are planned to increase the attractiveness of the region. These initiatives show that despite the difficult events, there are also positive developments. Café Anton will also open in Wittenberge on July 19th and expand its offerings to appeal to visitors and locals alike.
In addition, there are special exceptions in Brandenburg for overnight stays on farms with mobile homes. Around two dozen farms in the region offer parking spaces that are part of the Landfreuden network. Here, guests have the opportunity to purchase regional products, which not only benefits the farming communities, but also creates a symbiosis between nature and enjoyment.
