Zoo Safari 2025: Students discover animals and win great prizes!
The zoo safari in the Perleberg Zoo was very popular this year and attracted the interest of 700 students. From June 2nd to 6th, exciting activities around zoo animals took place, which were organized by the zoo administration, the GWG Wohnungsgesellschaft Perleberg/Karstädt and the “Hubertus kleine Residenz” restaurant. This initiative offers a great opportunity for children to expand their knowledge of animals in a playful way and to clarify many questions, especially about the popular Poitou donkeys, which played a central role here.
The response to the safari was consistently positive. Teachers praised the event and some schools even used the creative form of participation to celebrate Children's Day. The beautiful nature and animal park not only attracts school children from the Prignitz district, but also from the Heiligengrabe area.
Prizes for the best students
Of course, even the best classes were not allowed to go away empty-handed. The organizers had put together attractive prizes to promote the competition:
- 1. Platz: Klasse 1a der Grundschule „Juri Gagarin“ in Groß Pankow – Preis: Besuch in der Funtasy World Wittenberge.
- 2. Platz: Klasse 3b der Perleberger Rolandschule – Preis: Ausflug in die Badewelt Wittenberge.
- 3. Platz: Klasse 3a der Grundschule „Juri Gagarin“ in Groß Pankow – Preis: Ausflug zum Bowling.
The next zoo safari is already planned for 2026 in the week before the zoo festival. Many are already looking forward to another round of fun and education in this exciting environment.
Another exciting safari: The donkey safari
But it's not just in the Perleberg Zoo that you can enjoy exciting animal experiences. The donkey safari takes place in the Buchenberg Nature Park, where participants have the opportunity to brush, care for and hike with donkeys. The event offers a cozy welcome in the nature park house with a drink and information about the park. For animal lovers, there is also a pet area with geese, chickens and the horse “FruFru”.
The donkey safari includes a guided trekking tour through the natural park and the opportunity to enjoy a picnic with a packed lunch during the tour. Participants who drive a donkey also receive a donkey license and a souvenir photo. Those wishing to take part in the donkey safari should be prepared to wear clothing that can get dirty and bring sturdy shoes. Children aged 9 and over are allowed to drive a donkey when accompanied by an adult, while the minimum age for driving alone is 14 years.
Highlight in the zoo: PASTA OPERA
Another highlight in the zoo scene is the PASTA OPERA event, which will take place on December 13th at Friedrichsfelde Palace. Here, music lovers can enjoy classic Rococo pieces while feasting on a four-course meal. Tickets are available online and promise an unforgettable evening with musical highlights from masters such as Rossini and Verdi.
With so many exciting events and offerings, a visit to the surrounding zoos is a real treat for young and old. Whether at the vernissage of zoo safaris or leading donkeys in nature - there is something for everyone to discover and experience here!
