Two records were broken on the spectacular Moormeile in Bad Wilsnack!

There was really something going on in Bad Wilsnack on October 18, 2025: The 25th edition of the Moormeile attracted around 450 participants with bright sunshine and fresh temperatures who took on the various distances. This continues the tradition of this popular run, which is part of the Prignitz Cup and the Brandenburg Cup. With registrations at 550 participants, which were closed after the limit was reached, the event shows that interest in running is high in the region.

The event started promptly at 10 a.m. with the traditional warm-up led by Elisa Schönfeld. Mayor Martina Richter gave the starting signal for the one-kilometer route, which was primarily reserved for young runners. Rolf Schädlich moderated the competition and gave the athletes the motivation they needed, while around 60 volunteers in the background ensured everything ran smoothly. They were well prepared and trained to be able to react quickly in an emergency.

Course records set

It was particularly exciting on the longer distances: Stefan Herr from LG Prignitz broke the course record over 7.8 kilometers with a time of 27 minutes and 20 seconds, while Nico Semper from LG Oberhavel won the 12.4-kilometer run with a new record of 42 minutes and 48 seconds. With such outstanding performances, the two athletes caused enthusiasm among the spectators and participants.

Prizes and honors

All participants were able to look forward to a medal and a gift in the form of a fanny pack. The competition was not only exciting on a sporting level, the school class ranking was also very well received: the sixth grade of the Elbtal primary school was able to look forward to 150 euros for first place. On the winner's podium there were trophies and certificates for the best runners and walkers. The age groups were also taken into account in the evaluation and the first three in each class were awarded certificates.

The information on registration also provided insight into the organization of the event: the number of participants was limited to 550, and late registrations on the day of the event were not possible. The starting documents had to be picked up by 9:30 a.m., while there was enough parking space at the Karthanehalle. The different distances took the runners through the picturesque Wilsnacker forests and the spa gardens. The event was rounded off with a pleasant meal at the finish.

Preventive health care

Another important aspect of the running events is highlighted by the efforts of the German Athletics Association (DLV), which encourages participants to fill out an internationally validated health questionnaire in order to identify possible health risks in good time. Depending on the results, it is recommended to seek medical consultation to promote preventive health care.

The results of the Moormeile can be viewed on the website moormeile.de, and all information about the event can also be found on the websites of nordkurier.de and kreissportbund-prignitz.de.

The Moormeile has once again shown that the region not only offers a great backdrop for running enthusiasts, but also has a heart for community and sporting achievements. Here’s to next year!
