70 years of the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park: An open day full of innovation!

The Spree-Neiße region has every reason to celebrate, as the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park (ISP) looks back on an impressive 70-year history. An open day will be held on August 30, 2025 to celebrate this achievement. From 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., over 20 companies will open their doors and offer visitors the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes and learn more about the diverse work processes and the latest technologies. Niederlausitz Aktuell reports that the event not only offers interesting insights into the region's industrial forces, but also a offers a varied cultural program with musical performances by “Lausitzer Braunkohle” and the Polish band “NADIJA”.

The industrial park has changed significantly over the course of seven decades. It all started in 1955 with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Black Pump gas combine. A year later, the first coal was flowing through the conveyor belts and the combine was supplying 80% of the GDR with city gas. After the fall of the Wall and the associated structural change, new technologies became available, which ultimately led to the founding of the Black Pump Industrial Park Association (ZV ISP) in 2005. Since then, over 350 million euros have been invested in infrastructure and location management to make the region fit for the future.

Insights into the future of the industrial park

The ISP now houses over 120 companies from different industries. However, the upcoming structural change caused by the coal phase-out has also prepared the company for new challenges. The aim of the open day is to present the change from the traditional lignite combine to a modern industrial park. Visitors can look forward to hands-on activities, technology demonstrations and training stations that are specifically tailored to skilled workers, returnees and those interested in training. In addition, the innovative strength of the location is impressively presented and visitors learn more about the topics of high-tech production, recycling processes and the energy transition.

The entire event is part of a larger project funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) is co-financed. This fund was created in 1975 to compensate for differences in the level of development between EU regions. The focus is particularly on improving living conditions in structurally weaker regions, which also plays an important role for the Schwarze Pumpe Industrial Park.

Family-friendliness is a top priority at this ceremony: In addition to exciting insights into the world of work, children will also find hands-on stations, and the physical well-being of the guests will of course be taken care of. For further information, a full program and site map will be available on the event website and in information flyers from the beginning of August. Industriepark.info keeps interested visitors up to date.

The open day is not only an opportunity to explore the spaceship-like halls of the industrial park, but also a sign of the vibrant future of this region. It will be exciting to see how the ISP will develop in the coming years - a visit is definitely a must!
