XXXLutz construction site in Rangsdorf: 130 new jobs and a big comeback!
A lot is happening in Rangsdorf! The XXXLutz construction site continues to grow and there is great anticipation for the planned opening in November. However, the exact opening date still represents a small uncertainty. Matthias Sturm, the house manager, was optimistic: “Everything is going according to plan.” Amid this anticipation, there are legal disputes between the state of Berlin, the municipality of Schönefeld and the operators of XXXLutz and Mömax. These disputes revolve around the possible negative impact on key supply areas, which pushes the project somewhat into the background. But the Berlin-Brandenburg Higher Administrative Court has now decided that the construction site can continue, which calms people's minds. The court's press office reported that the building permit was granted in February 2023 and no harmful effects were identified. The construction freeze was unanimously rejected.
Michael Waiser, the project developer, emphasized in an interview that there was never a stop to construction. The future Mömax is almost finished, and around half of the XXXLutz area is under construction. A look at the numbers shows that XXXLutz in Rangsdorf plans to create 130 jobs. Salaries should be up to 60,000 euros annually. 55 to 60 logistics and warehouse employees have already been hired to support the development of the market. The new employees are trained in surrounding markets so that everything goes smoothly.
Training and job offers
Numerous applications are necessary for sales, especially for furniture, kitchens and home accessories. The demand for qualified employees is high and around 20 training positions have already been awarded. There is also an urgent need for suitable young talent in the area of system catering. The first new employees are expected to start working in September at the latest – a welcome addition to the local economy.
Legal classification and building permits
The legal disputes arise from concerns raised by the applicants, the state of Berlin and the municipality of Schönefeld. They felt their rights had been violated and applied for interim legal protection. However, the courts rejected the complaints because relevant areas, such as Bahnhofsstrasse in Lichtenrade, had already been classified as central supply areas without any negative effects being identified. These decisions are now final and unappealable, clearing the way for XXXLutz and Mömax.
A look at the overall economic situation shows that the construction industry remains stable. Statistics from the Federal Statistical Office provide clear data on building permits and completions, which are essential for a realistic assessment of the real estate market. The need for new construction projects remains consistently high, which is also underlined by the jobs created in Rangsdorf [maz-online.de]. [berlin.de].
