In 2015, Lucas Gregorowicz made his debut in the new role in Frankfurt (Oder). After the departure of the popular Commissioner Maria Simon in 2021, new paths had to be taken again. In recent years there have been repeated line-up changes in the series, which has deep historical roots. Performers often look for new challenges rather than waiting to be fired. The RBB never fired anyone, which sheds an interesting perspective on staff turnover. Moheb Zandi emphasizes: “It is not seen as a disadvantage, but as an opportunity to work with fixed figures in different constellations.”
The journey so far
The first episode in Frankfurt (Oder), “Grenzgänger”, marked the start of a new era – and it was well received. The stories shifted their focus, realism and social insights became more prominent. With the change of location from Potsdam to Frankfurt, a German-Polish commissariat was also to be created, although in reality it does not exist. Mario Simon and Horst Krause were among the first faces in “Polizeiruf 110”, and their stories probably had a significant impact on the film series.
What remains after ten years with Horst Krause and Maria Simon's last appearances? The ratings for the Brandenburg crime investigation are still stable, and the station is looking for the best possible cast for the fate and crime stories. There are exciting answers to the question about the new investigators: André Kaczmarczyk, Vincent Ross, Gisa Flake and Frank Leo Schröder are the new main actors who have been bringing a breath of fresh air since 2021. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance that the selection of investigators fits the respective stories well.

The next episode “Play Against the Ball” will be broadcast on ARD on June 22nd at 8:15 p.m. The fans' anticipation is already palpable. Each new case brings the opportunity not only to tell exciting crime stories, but also to provide deeper insights into life on the border between Poland and Germany.
Together with the creativity of the rbb, “Polizeiruf 110” is constantly being taken to new heights. The investigators from the German-Polish murder squad in Świecko are an exciting addition to this successful format. Since 2015, two new episodes have been released every year, and the development of the characters shows that they have a good hand here. Where is the journey going?
