WEBHAUS in Jüterbog: Citizens are calling for new use for historical buildings!

The historic weaving house in Zinna monastery, Jüterbog, faces an uncertain future after the city has decided to sell the valuable building. How maz-online.de reported, the more than 200 -year -old building between Wiese and Linden, near the B101, was once used as a factory, in which Weber tensioned fabrics and which later served as a central educational institution.

The built in 1776 by Jacob Friedrich Heyl, the weaving house is an important piece of history. At the beginning of the 19th century, Johann Georg Sieburg took over the building, which quickly developed into an important workplace for Spinner and Weber. But the heyday did not last forever; The factory had to close in 1802. In 1823 the employees acquired the building and became part of a school system that conveyed knowledge of many generations.

The condition of the weaving house

The building has been empty since 2022 after the long -time tenant gave up at the turn of the year. The condition is questionable: dirty windows, spider weaving and a dusty inner life that is reminiscent of a museum are the current characteristics of the once lively place. The last, still used room served as a polling station, most recently in the mayoral election before the next runoff election is due on July 20th.

In order to ensure sensible use, the city plans a tender that runs until September 30th. We are looking for not only a sustainable concept, but also a public accessibility. A minimum bid of 250,000 euros is scheduled and the city reserves the right to transfer it if the concept cannot be implemented.

Citizens' opinions and visions

The residents are mixed: While many beautiful memories of the building combine with kindergarten visits and afternoons together in the café, there is also skepticism about the load -bearing capacity of a new café or a daycare center. A return to the old stone oven in the beer garden is desired by many. A place to linger and come together is the top priority of the demands.

The economic performance and references of the potential buyers are crucial criteria, which is why the city places a special focus on sustainable usage concepts. Gosolar emphasizes how important the sustainable renovation of historical buildings is for urban development and environmental protection. Innovative strategies should help to maintain cultural value and at the same time to integrate modern standards.

It is generally expected that the new use of the weaving house can meet both ecological requirements and the historical aspects. Monument protection and contemporary architecture bring challenges, but also opportunities. The community is encouraged to actively participate in the development of the usage concept.

Whether the weaving house becomes a living meeting point again or continues to progress in decay now depends on the commitment of the citizens and the ability of future investors to develop a concept that not only observes the preservation of the building, but also sensible use. The hopes are high and expectations of the new use of the weaving house remain ambivalent.
