Bundeswehr party disrupts night's sleep: residents desperate!

In Fünfeichen, a wild celebration involving around 20 people caused great discontent among the residents. Some neighbors of the Bundeswehr dormitories feel massively disturbed by the noise and describe the situation as scandalous noise pollution. An affected neighbor contacted the Nordkurier and described the impact of the celebrations on around 40 residential units. Complaints are piling up and the mood in the neighborhood is tense.

After the neighbor filed a complaint with the dormitory, an unexpected turn of events occurred: instead of the music being turned down, it was turned up even further. “That’s irresponsible,” said the resident, who has already emailed the Bundeswehr several times to ask them to respect the rest times. However, the press office of the Panzergrenadier Brigade 41 assures that the night's rest of the residents has the highest priority and that the legal regulations are adhered to.

Legal basis of night rest

According to the law, rest at night is a legal obligation that must be observed by all citizens in order to promote harmonious coexistence. The traditional rest times from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. offer space for relaxation and are important for the physical and mental health of all citizens. Not all noises should be considered noise nuisance, but consideration is the be-all and end-all in order to avoid conflicts and enable a peaceful neighborhood. The legal framework is clear: Unacceptable noise can be punished with high fines of up to 5,000 euros, as the regulations in the Administrative Offenses Act state.

Another aspect to consider: In apartment buildings there is often a midday quiet period between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., while on Sundays and public holidays there is all-day quiet from midnight to midnight. It is therefore important that every citizen is aware of their responsibility to respect these rest periods.

Reaction of the Bundeswehr and outlook

The Bundeswehr attaches great importance to maintaining the night's rest and denies the residents' allegations. “We have no written complaints from the last few years,” it says. However, it is noted that soldiers are increasingly being instructed to avoid unnecessary noise. In the future, the Bundeswehr plans to make the contact options for the Tollense barracks guard more visible so that residents can submit their complaints more quickly and easily.

The situation in Fünfeichen remains tense and a solution is not yet in sight. The residents hope that the Bundeswehr will take its promises seriously and that the nightly celebrations will not become the norm.
