Mayor Enrico Malow (CDU) had invited citizens to an urgent meeting to discuss the tense financial situation. The reason for the concerns are, among other things, the still unresolved construction plans of the Deutsche Bahn, which heavily burden the community. The increasing expenditure due to inflation and the stress in the social sector are an enormous problem for many municipalities that cannot be ignored.

Is there also positive news for Grabowhöfe? The municipality has received the green light for the construction of a new fire station in Vielist, which is to be realized for 1.5 million euros. However, the municipality itself has to raise 650,000 euros, a huge sum in the face of the current financial situation. In addition, the funding from Schwerin was reduced from originally 75 to 55 percent, which made financing more difficult.
In view of these challenges, Mayor Malow plans to regularly inform citizens about the developments and to look for dialogue at least once a year in the districts. The municipal council will come together on June 24th to approve the budget for this year.
