Inclusive holidays for everyone: New project launched by the Stephanus Foundation!
The summer holidays are just around the corner and for many children and young people this means a break full of fun and adventure. The Stephanus Foundation's project aims to ensure that young people with disabilities can also immerse themselves in the joys of the holiday on an equal footing “holiday inclusive” clearly on inclusion. The initiative pursues the ambitious goal of ensuring that all children and young people aged 10 to 21 can take part in holiday offers, regardless of possible restrictions.
The program, which has been active since September 2019 and has already gained around 55 partners, is significantly supported by the Brandenburg Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MBJS). Organizers of inclusive holiday offers can apply for funding to finance additional carers and thus ensure qualified care. Organizers can find all the necessary information and application forms on the homepage ferien-inklusiv.org.
Funding opportunities and training offers
Another important aspect of the project is the support of the supervisors. The Stefanus Foundation offers free and certified training courses that consist of three modules. This further training is carried out in Templin, Berlin or as in-house training. Who better to bring in practical experience than Peter Wohlleben, who uses a wheelchair himself and is happy to pass on his skills? The training courses are not only practical help, but also an invitation to make care inclusive and to develop new formats.
The financial conditions are also appealing. Organizers can apply for a fixed amount of €160.00 per day or €200.00 per carer for the care of young people with disabilities. These grants make it easier to organize inclusive holiday offers and thus promote shared learning in heterogeneous groups, which is important for everyone involved, including them Made strong Platform highlights.
Together for more inclusion
A forward-looking step that not only benefits the organizers, but also the children and young people. The initiative aims to raise awareness of inclusion and enable every young person to take part in exciting holiday offers - a goal that is long overdue. Parents are also invited to contact the project partners, for example the General Association for the Disabled in Brandenburg e.V. or the Three Oaks Environmental Center.
In order to further increase the efficiency and quality of the offerings, the project is constantly being developed further. Stephanie Tiedig has trained as a specialist in inclusion and integration education in order to specifically fight for more participation and equal opportunities. Another sign of the positive development is the award of the “Wichern Plaque”, which was awarded last year and underlines the high level of recognition of the Diakonie Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesische Oberlausitz.
With this in mind: Let's work together to ensure that all children, regardless of their disabilities, can experience exciting and unforgettable holidays!
