Nurses donate for further training and help seriously ill patients!
13 nursing professionals from various outpatient and inpatient facilities recently gathered in the warm atmosphere of Templiner CuraPal gGmbH. They took part in specialized training that dealt with one of the most central aspects of palliative care – pain management. Steffi Blochberger, an experienced specialist and expert in this field, led the event and imparted valuable knowledge to the participants. Loud Northern Courier The committed Blochberger invested the income from this training, a total of 650 euros, in a good cause. The amount went to the Uckermark against Leukemia - Together against Cancer e.V., which is committed to improving the quality of life of seriously ill people.
This association has made a wonderful name for itself with its “Patient Mobile – Wishes Come True” project. The idea behind it is simple but strong: to fulfill the wishes of seriously ill patients, be it a concert, an evening at the theater or even travel. The association provides vehicles for this purpose and thus ensures safe and professional transport. An example is a trip to the Baltic Sea, which was a very special experience for a patient and Steffi Blochberger. Volunteer helpers, like Ulf Schützler, who drives the wish cars, also contribute a lot to the realization of these campaigns.
Dedicated palliative care
Palliative care is more than just a medical concept; it is a matter of the heart. CuraPal gGmbH, where the further training took place, starts exactly here in order to improve the quality of life of patients and avoid hospital transfers. Specialized outpatient palliative care is intended to ensure that patients can remain in familiar surroundings, even if they are affected by serious illnesses. You will receive comprehensive care, including pain management, nutritional support and measures to relieve nausea. Great importance is attached to taking patients' fears into account and also closely involving relatives in the care ( curapal.de ).
But in order to be able to do this valuable work efficiently, high-quality training and further education is also required. Established institutions such as the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP) play a key role here. It not only ensures that nursing staff acquire the necessary specialist knowledge, but also that standards are adhered to to guarantee optimal patient care. Through extensive certification processes, the DGP ensures that further training meets the high requirements ( dgpalliativmedizin.de ).
The dedicated nursing staff in the Uckermark prove that it is not just about medical treatment, but also about humanity and fulfilling wishes. At a time when the healthcare system is often under pressure, these professionals are setting an example for how important compassionate and holistic care is. Thanks to such initiatives, a piece of quality of life can be given back, and that is priceless these days.
