Photovoltaic boom in the Templin area: Are the projects approved?
Uckermark, Deutschland - The discussion about photovoltaic freight facilities in the Templin surrounding area is picking up. On July 16, important decisions are scheduled by the city council, which deals with a total of five planned projects. These are the result of applications that have been addressed by two investors to the administration since March, such as reported. The background is a moratorium from 2022 that had stopped all projects in the field of photovoltaic systems.
The intensive examination of the public led to the creation of a catalog of criteria, which was first adopted on February 26. This determines the requirements that must be taken into account when examining the applications. All proposals have been checked using a checklist and meet the criteria of the basic decision. The two investors have a good hand: Re.venture GmbH plans an open space to 20 hectares in Storkow. In addition, Suncatcher Holding GmbH brings four projects into play, including:
- pva Hammelspring - Storkower Damm : 20 hectares
- pva Hammelspring - Pedunschenluch : 16.6 hectares
- pva Hindenburg - south level crossing/Hammelspring - Birkenwäldchen : 15.3 hectares
- pva Templin - south of Schützenweg : 13.1 hectares
Before you can start, the land use plans for all of these projects must be changed. Opinions in the city council have been shared: The majority of the city development committee recommends the projects of Re.Venture GmbH, while the building committee does not want to bring any of the five facilities to vote. Klaus Wollatz from the UBW faction has expressed concerns about the economy and the utilization of the power grid in the Uckermark. These worries will be heard from citizens from the affected districts and were supported with applause.
legal framework for new projects
The plans fall into a time when the federal government has promised an extended privilege for open space systems since 2023. photovoltaik.org explains that the building code (BauGB) § 35 Paragraph 1 No. 8 B allows the construction of open space systems in a corridor of 200 m along motorways and railways. These legal changes aim to promote the expansion of renewable energies by facilitating the requirements for the approval of such systems.
In addition, a digitization amendment comes into force on July 7, 2023, which not only creates relief for the photovoltaic systems, but also for hydrogen electrolysis projects. The Energy Atlas Bavaria offers comprehensive information about the legal framework and the requirements for the municipal construction management planning for Open space photovoltaic systems.
The Templin area could be a bit more environmentally friendly with these new projects, while at the same time the challenges and concerns of the citizens have to be taken seriously. One thing is certain: the debate has opened - and it remains exciting how the affairs will develop.
