Trial of fatal knife attack: teenager stabbed to death in Schwerin!
A sensational trial against 25-year-old Milad R. for manslaughter begins today at the Schwerin regional court. The incident, which occurred nine months ago, puts the question of violence among young people in a new light. Milad R. is said to have stabbed his 17-year-old compatriot from Afghanistan at the side entrance to the Schlosspark Center. Loud Northern Courier There was an argument with a third Afghan, which resulted in the fatal incident.
First, Milad R. asked the victim to leave the shopping center. After the victim followed this call, Milad R. attacked again and stabbed him with a 13 centimeter long knife. The injured suffered six stab wounds and two cuts before the fatal stab to the chest ended the young man's life within a short space of time. After this terrible incident, Milad R. fled across several European cities - from Hamburg to Cologne to Paris until he was finally arrested in Great Britain. This happened in April 2025, based on a European Arrest Warrant. He was extradited to Germany in May 2025. A sad picture of violence
Milad R.'s case follows an alarming trend in Germany, where violent crime is increasing, particularly among young men. But the acts cannot only be observed in public spaces - there are also worrying developments in the domestic environment. A current study shows that acts of violence against women are widespread in Germany and usually take place in a personal or family environment. A third of women in Germany experience violence at least once in their lives Statista points out.
In cases of intimate partner violence, around 79% of the 168,000 registered victims are women. Psychological and physical violence also has a firm place in the statistics. In 2023, 938 femicides were recorded in attempted murders alone, most of these acts were committed against women. An example is the Federal Court's decision that sentenced a man to life imprisonment after he murdered his wife. The decision, taken in August 2025, shows how vile such offenses are and how deeply rooted the problem is in the fabric of society. The frightening reality is that most women don't even report the crime out of shame and fear.
Help for those affected
For many women, the path to a safe environment is often well secured, not least through the services offered by women's shelters and advice centers. Last year, around 30,200 women and children sought protection in 378 women's shelters. However, the number of unreported cases is high because not everyone affected can take this step. Support is available, among other things, via the “Violence Against Women” helpline, which recorded more than 86,700 contacts in 2023.
Milad R.'s trial is not just a legal procedure; it is also a wake-up call about the dangers of violence in everyday life. It remains to be hoped that this case will not only provide clarity about what happened, but will also lead to a discussion about violence prevention. Because one thing is clear: violence has no place in our society.
