Sixteen-year-old animal lover creates a unique paradise in Bandelow

16-year-old Lina Katharina Zinser, who is considered animal crazy, lives in a small village near Prenzlau called Bandelow. Her home is a living oasis where she not only shares a room with her two chickens, but also looks after over 300 pigeons of different breeds, including Modenese, Roman and Oriental Rollers. Lina is a passionate breeder and has already taken part in competitions in which her racing pigeons achieved good placings. For her, the careful breeding and care of these animals is a matter of the heart - and not without success, as she herself says.

The outdoor areas of their idyllic house are filled with raised beds planted with all kinds of vegetables, as well as a cherry tree. There are also 30 ducks and a few chicks who make their everyday lives even more colorful. Caring for the animals is Lina’s top priority; everyone is vaccinated, chipped and cataloged, and she knows every animal by name. After school, the schedule is clear: feeding, cleaning the stables and counting chicks. There is little time for banter on social media.

Family ties and challenges

The passion for animals is also part of the healing process for the Zinser family. The sudden loss of his father five years ago was a hard blow, but animal husbandry and gardening have given the family a new balance. Together they manage to overcome life's challenges and give each other support.

Lina proudly reports on the special moment when chicks hatch, especially her tame Romans and Oriental Rollers. Her friends find Lina's lifestyle exciting, and future partners also have clear preferences: "If you like me, you have to like my pigeons too," she says with a wink.

Breeding racing pigeons

Breeding racing pigeons requires special attention, as Röhnfried's guides show. Special preparations are necessary here to ensure healthy young pigeons. Health checks are important approximately four weeks before mating and it is recommended that drinking water be treated appropriately to reduce infections. Products like Avidress Plus help lower the pH value of the water and strengthen the pigeons' immune system. Proper feeding also plays a central role in ensuring that the animals thrive optimally.

All this information emphasizes the dedication that goes into pigeon breeding. Cataloging the breeding and constant health checks are particularly important aspects, as they play an essential role in the quality of the animals that Lina breeds.

Animal husbandry in society

Lina's animal paradise is not only a personal project, but also a symbol of the way animals are kept in Germany. While homeowners are subject to fewer regulations, the requirements for renters must be observed even more strictly. According to the guidelines, care must always be taken to ensure that the animals are kept in a species-appropriate manner and that the neighbors are not disturbed. For many, animal husbandry is a welcome opportunity to experience nature up close and take responsibility, especially at a time when contact with nature is often lost.

Whatever the future holds for Lina, her love of animals remains a central component of her life. In her little world she has created a unique and touching atmosphere that enriches not only her but also her family.
