The 29th children's and youth sports games in the Uckermark are all about excitement and fun. Over 300 children and young people gathered on various days and locations to demonstrate their sporting skills. Organized by the Sportjugend Uckermark, this event is an opportunity to present the diversity of Uckermark sports and this year saw the participation of 19 schools, which shows how much interest there is in these competitions Northern Courier reported.
On Tuesday, the mini-program was for students in grades 1 to 3, which was followed with great enthusiasm. The participants were welcomed by Sylvia Konang from the district sports youth, while Robert Knappe, the chairman of the sports youth, ceremoniously opened the event. The playful program offered the young athletes a first insight into the world of competition and was supported by numerous spectators.
A wide range of sports options
A total of 11 different sports were offered, including track and field and football. There were particularly exciting moments in the athletics triathlon, where the participants competed against each other in the sprint, long jump and ball throw disciplines. Jona Terletzki from Lychen underlined his talent on this occasion by throwing an impressive distance of 42 meters. Ben Schwedesky from Warnitz followed with 39 meters, which made for exciting competition.
The Diesterweg primary school in Prenzlau showed its class at the football tournament. The decision was made in the penalty shootout and they secured first place ahead of GS Göritz and Goetheschule Templin. Overall, the football tournament was a highlight that also got the spectators excited. Shalom Enke Bangang from Templin also set an accent by shining in the third graders' 400 meter run and winning three gold medals.
