Dream high school diploma in Torgelow: 16-year-old conquers the stage with 1.0!
Last weekend the time had finally come: 51 students from the private boarding high school Schloss Torgelow happily passed their Abitur. With an excellent overall average of 1.75, the class of 2025 is one of the strongest in the school's history. Particularly impressive: four high school graduates were able to achieve the dream grade of 1.0, including a 16-year-old student who caused a stir with her outstanding performance. Uckermark courier reports that over 60% of the final grades are between 1.1 and 1.9, thus underlining the high quality of the year.
The school stands out for its small class structure and individual support, which can be a decisive factor in learning success for many students, who have often been part of the school community since fifth grade. At the Abitur graduation, Mario Lehmann, the founder and sponsor of Schloss Torgelow, praised the students not only for their academic achievements, but also for their personal maturity, their team spirit and the human warmth that they showed during their school years. Torgelow Castle emphasizes that many high school graduates start the future with valuable experiences and friendships.
Career plans and recognition
It is also noteworthy that 48 of the graduates have already made concrete plans for their future. Many of them aim to study in sought-after fields such as medicine, law, engineering and business administration. Some of the high school graduates have also announced that they will take some time off to discover new perspectives. These decisions show that students are well prepared and can start life with a solid foundation.
A special highlight for the school is the long-standing tradition of placing an advertisement in major daily newspapers for years with an overall average of less than 2.0. This is how the achievements of these high school graduates are recognized, which has been an integral part of the graduation ceremonies since 2015.
Abitur in Germany – an overview
The Abitur is the highest school qualification in Germany and is a prerequisite for access to universities and equivalent colleges. How Statista reported, around 259,300 graduates passed their Abitur in 2022. Among the federal states, it can be seen that Hamburg has the highest rate of high school graduates, while Thuringia had the best failure rate. This diversity shows how education is organized in Germany and that there are big differences between the federal states when it comes to final examinations.
During their time at school, students have the opportunity to concentrate on specific subjects and many of them take the opportunity to take extra subjects to improve their Abitur grades. This helps ensure that the achievements of these young people are not only shaped by academic knowledge, but also by personal experiences and friendships that can last a lifetime.
