The focus: Free lectures and excursions on ecology in Brandenburg!
Uckermark, Deutschland - In Brandenburg, awareness of water protection and ecological sustainability is very important. An exciting series of lectures starts on October 1, which deals with central topics such as hydrology and drinking water supply. Excursions are also planned that lead to the fascinating landscapes of the Uckermark-specifically in the Bollwintalmoor and for soil examinations in Arensnest, Potsdam-Mittelmark. These events not only offer valuable knowledge, but are also free of charge what an early registration is worthwhile for-the detailed information on this can be found at Meetingpoint-brandenburg.de.
The lectures will be accessible online both online and on site in the Bad Belzig regional office of the KVHS Potsdam-Mittelmark. There are ten topics on the list, including legal framework conditions for water management and the use of digital card systems. In October, excursions in Brandenburg an der Havel with visits to sewage and waterworks as well as in November in moor areas in the Uckermark and Potsdam-Mittelmark.
water: a precious resource
water is indispensable for our life, because there is no life without water. This fact is underpinned by alarming reports on water shortages and pollution. According to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research [BMBF.de] (https://www.bmbf.de/de/forschung/energieklimaundnachtherke/forschungfuernachhhaltigkeit/ SachshalteswasserManagement_node.html), about half of the world population suffers from serious water shortage, and 2.2 billion people have no access to clean water. Climate change exacerbates this problem and leads to more frequent drought time and heavy rain events that further endanger the availability of water.
Potentials to improve water management are actively promoted. The nationwide program "Water: N" is committed to sustainable water supply and provides generous means for research. As part of this program, projects are supported in various subject areas that enable the transfer of innovative solutions into practice.
The future of water management
In this context, the interactive web application "Explorer for Climate Change Effects on Water Resources" by a team from the Goethe University Frankfurt in cooperation with AGEOCE is also developed. This innovative application shows how water resources could develop in the future and visualizes well -founded scientific simulations based on climate models. With a spatial resolution of around 50 km, users can select specific regions and understand the effects of climate change on the water near you. Access to this platform is not only reserved for experts, but is also open to civil society and educational institutions in order to spread the necessary knowledge (Wassermeister.net).
Thanks to such initiatives, it becomes clear that it is time to strengthen the lived awareness of water resources. Together in Brandenburg and beyond, paths can be found to secure this essential resource for the future.Details | |
