ZeitSprung” in the state parliament: guided tours through the moving photography of the reunification period!
Next week, the citizens of Brandenburg can embark on an exciting journey of discovery through the history of the reunification period. On July 4, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. there will be a special tour of the annual exhibition “ZeitSprung” in the Potsdam State Parliament Palace. Curator Benjamin Ochse will guide participants through the fascinating world of photographs that capture life around the fall of the Berlin Wall and the immediate aftermath. The exhibition awaits visitors until December 19, 2025, and entry is free, making a visit a good deal for any history buff.
The exhibition offers over 150 impressive photographs by the artists Hildegard Ochse, Kathrin Ollroge and Karl-Ludwig Lange. These works not only address the fall of the Berlin Wall, but also the events and moods in the period afterwards. Karl-Ludwig Lange's pictures show the last days of the GDR: closed shops and people queuing for everyday errands are impressively captured. These images are not only nostalgic, but also take a look at the challenges of life in a system characterized by scarcity, as nd-aktuell reports.
Diversity of perspectives
But it's not just Lange who shows the reality of this time. Hildegard Ochse, who died in 1997, documented the mood of the people after 1990 and was particularly dedicated to the children of the GDR. For them, the Berlin Wall was not only a physical border, but also a “magical place”. The youngest of the three photographers, Kathrin Ollroge, brings fresh color photos and profound thought protocols that reflect their influence on life during this upheaval.
All three photographers illuminate different facets of the Wall and its meaning: from the sadness of the past to the glimmers of hope in the young state of Brandenburg. The exhibition offers a deep insight and encourages discussions about the time.
