Symposium in Bremen: AI and power - challenges of the future!

Bremer Baumwollbörse, Wachtstraße 17-24, 28195 Bremen, Deutschland - On June 3 and 4, a significant symposium entitled "From Platform Governance to Generative AI" will take place on the Bremen cotton exchange. Organized by the Center for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZEMKI), the conference aims to bring together experts from the economy, scientists and political decision-makers: to discuss the challenges of generative AI, such as chatt, in connection with social media platforms. The registration deadline for the event is May 28th, with a public event on June 3 at 7:30 p.m. under the title "Critical Times: Power and Politics in Tech Governance". Within this framework, renowned speakers such as Dr. Amélie Heldt and Nicolas Suzor speak, with an introduction by Professor Michal Kucera.

The relevance of the topic is clear through the rapid development and the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in various industries. Ethic questions must be put in the foreground in particular with regard to the increasing use of AI systems. The possibility of distortions and discrimination by algorithms shows that companies have to develop transparent and responsible AI systems in order to minimize the negative effects. This requires a high degree of attention and responsibility in the design of AI applications.

opportunities and challenges of the KI

artificial intelligence offers both opportunities and challenges. On the one hand, it improves data -based decision -making in companies, such as in supply chain management and product marketing. Matt Candy from IBM emphasizes that there are also risks, since AI-generated content can be incorrect and therefore companies would urgently need precise information in order to make sound decisions. This becomes particularly important if you look at the examples of misinformation that can come from generative AI models, for example through inaccurate editions of large voice models or unrealistic AI generated images.
It is of central importance to ensure that companies implement strategies for recognizing and minimizing such misinformations, since the misinformation is not deliberately created for deception, whereas disinformation deliberately distributed false information.

Another important topic in the discussion is the regulation and governance of AI. The governments are faced with the task of developing guidelines that ensure responsible use of AI technologies. This is necessary to ensure both progress and supervision in a rapidly developing landscape. National and international standards could be necessary to prevent the spread of incorrect content and the abuse of AI.

public participation and responsible development

The public participation in the conference could offer an important basis for further discussions and initiatives in the field of AI development and governance. In addition, by implementing high-quality, balanced and well-structured data, companies can reduce their risks in relation to misinformation as well as the provision of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). Human supervision remains essential to prevent the harmful consequences of AI generated content. It is therefore crucial that companies set up control points for human interaction in the entire AI process.
