Campus run inspires over 500 participants: a sports festival for everyone!
Dortmund, Deutschland - On June 5, 2025, the 39th campus run at the Technical University of Dortmund took place, which started with the Kids Run over 600 meters. More than 60 children were there and were actively cheered on by parents, students and employees. The event was particularly colorful by the accompaniment of the University Sports Masco Wanda and Pilo, which supported the young participants. After the Kids Run, the runs over 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km started, which also attracted a lot of interest and numerous participants.
With almost 500 starters, the 5 km run was very well attended, which Lorenz Rix won with an impressive final sprint against Colin Kolbe. In addition, Karlotta Jule Kranz won the overall ranking and the U16 category in this run. The 2.5 km run was won by Kevin Prilgrim, who had previously taken second place several times. With the younger ones, Tilda Pothmann won the course of the U16. Together with the top sporting performance, a costume competition caused a sensation that a seven-member giant rush could decide.
main run and winner
The main run over 10 km was started by TU rector Prof. Manfred Bayer and Sina Diekmann. Lara Kiene prevailed in the women with a clear lead, while the men Lorenz Rix was able to convince again and won in the target sprint against Jonas Schmitz from RWTH Aachen, which gave him his second title of the day.
Kidsrun Germany 2024 - A look into the future
The special developments in the children's area are further funded by events such as the Kidsrun Germany 2024, which take place from June 20, 2024 to October 31, 2024. Here children can take part in three running routes on a lake, river and through a forest. Registration is possible by October 31, 2024 and the participants expect diverse services such as a digital starting pass, personal documents and the possibility of a medal engraving.
The goal of this initiative is to motivate children and families to move in nature. It turns out that around 3,000 running events are offered for children in Germany, which illustrates the importance of children's runs. While Bambini runs are usually shorter and take place for children under the age of 8, pupils and adolescents can often cope with distances of 2 to 3 kilometers. In addition, there are no strict prerequisites for participation, children do not have to be in an association, which makes participation easier.
Overall, the campus run at the TU Dortmund illustrates the liveliness and the importance of running sports, not only in adults, but especially among the youngest who can discover the joy of movement here. Further information on children's run events are available at Kidsrun and hdsports
