Dresden water jumpers shine at EM: Two silver medals!
The European Water spring championships in Belek, Türkiye, offer exciting competitions and brilliant achievements by the German athletes this year. On May 25, 2025, the German water jumpers were able to win a total of two silver medals, which demonstrates the persistence and the skills of the participants. In the competitions, a variety of talented jumpers competed, but not all nations were represented with their strongest athletes. This influences the dynamics and competition within the tournaments.
Jette Müller, a talented water jumper, won silver in synchronized jumping from the three-meter board together with her partner Lena Hentschel. They ended the competition in second place behind a Ukrainian duo. This is a special award for Müller because it is her first medal at a major international event. Müller, who moved from Rostock to Dresden almost a year ago, enjoys this important success.
further success of the German water jumpers
Lena Hentschel will also switch to the Dresden base after studying in the USA, a decision that could strengthen the future cooperation between the two athletes. In addition to the success in synchronized jumping, Hentschel also performed excellently in mixed synchronous with her club colleague Luis Avila Sanchez. Together they won gold in front of their Italian competitors with only 0.03 points. In the team event, Hentschel and Müller were also able to win silver again, which shows the German water jumper youngsters significant progress.
An outstanding result also achieves Timo Barthel, who jumps for SV Halle and trains in Dresden. Together with Moritz Wesemann, he won the EM title in synchronized jumping from the three-meter board. Barthel had recently suffered a wrist injury that forced him to change discipline, which makes his triumph all the more impressive because he only got fit shortly before the European Championship.
European championships in water jumping
The European Championships in water jumping are held by the Ligue Européenne de Natation (len) and are an important event in international swimming. Since the first competitions in 1926, which took place as part of the first swimming European championships, the competitions have continued to develop. Originally, only two disciplines were intended for men: the 3 m board and the 10 m tower, around 1927 the competitions were also accessible to women.
Over the years, further competitions and categories have been added. Since 1997 there has also been synchronous competitions from the 3-M board and the 10 m tower as well as a mixed team competition since 2010. The structures of the European Championships are subject to a fixed rhythm that takes place independently and in straight years as part of the European Schwimmme European Championships.
The medals achieved and success of the German water jumpers in Belek are a good indicator of the positive development of sport in Germany. The event offers the athletes a platform to be able to present their talents on an international stage and to measure themselves against the European top.
