military clashes and drone attacks
In parallel to the attacks on Ukrainian soil, the Ukrainian secret service SBU carried out a major attack on military aircraft in Russia's core country. According to Zeit , a total of 40 Russian airplanes were attacked at five air force supports, including support points in Irkutsk and near Murmansk. Some of the attacked aircraft are able to attack Ukraine with rockets from a great distance. Russia's Ministry of Defense confirmed that some of these machines caught fire but could be deleted.President Wolodymyr Selenskyj personally supervised the operation, and the drones were transported deep into Russian territory in containers on trucks. The careful preparations for these attacks lasted more than a year and a half.
technological innovations in warfare
drones play a central role in this conflict. Ukraine not only improved its own drone defense, but also developed techniques to recognize and shoot attacking drones. According to the information from ZDF , Ukraine has achieved a high launch rate of over 90 % in the Russian Shahed drones. The use of acoustic detection systems can recognize Ukrainian armed forces at an early stage.
Russia, on the other hand, sets Kamikaze drones and experimented with new technologies to increase the effectiveness of its drone missions. Despite a recruitment problem and technical restrictions, Ukraine is working to continuously improve its technical capacities and innovation cycles in the field of drone warfare.
In the middle of the ongoing military conflicts, Russia's head of parliament Wjatscheslaw Wolodin concerned concern about the possible escalation of the situation, especially with regard to the rocket production planned by the German government in Ukraine. He criticized Chancellor Friedrich Merz and warned of a direct military confrontation between Russia and Germany. While US President Donald Trump has not yet made any decisions about new sanctions against Russia, the entire region remains in a tense situation.
