Energy transition in the focus: specialist conference at the EIZ with experts from all over Germany!
Campus der BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, Deutschland - On June 10, 2025, the Energy Innovation Center (EIZ) opens its doors to the second specialist conference on the campus of the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. Around 120 experts from energy technology and energy industry are expected to discuss solutions for the energy transition and to present current research results from six EIZ research laboratories. This versatile event is organized as part of the 25th Brandenburg Energy Day and offers a platform for exchange and networking.
The conference is opened with welcome words by prominent guests, including Prof. Gesine Grande, President of the BTU, and Stefan Müller from the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space. Specialist lectures, scientific meetings and poster presentations are on the program. The keynote lectures include contributions by Prof. Alessandra Parisio from the University of Manchester and Dr. Nils Ole Tippenhauer from the Cispa Helmholtz Center for Information Security.
parallel sessions and laboratory guides
The three parallel sessions that cover versatile topics, such as energy systems, bioenergy and cybersecurity, are particularly noteworthy. Each session deals with specific topics that range from energy storage to catalysis research. The event closes with a one-hour Lab tour, in which four of the six EIZ laboratories can be visited, including the EPS Lab and the ESC LAB, which offer innovative research approaches in the areas of network simulation and hydrogen research.A task of the research is to deal with the future demand for hydrogen and synthesis products by 2050. The studies that are carried out by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft focus on techno-economic perspectives and do not always take into account historical labor market conditions and the influence of current political measures.
The transition to the circular economy
The need for a transition to circular recycling systems will, according to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft , to protect and promote sustainability. Every year, millions of tons of waste are incurred, and the focus on the circular economy is considered essential to minimize energy waste and emissions. Basic instruments of the circular economy, such as maintenance and recycling, are crucial for the sustainable use of resources.
In times of change and increasing challenges in the energy transition, events such as the conference in the EIZ offer an important platform for exchange of knowledge and promotion.
