Erlenschule is packing with 18 students: Freibad Syke shines again!

Syke, Deutschland - This week 18 students of Erlenschule in Syke actively participated in the beautification project of the local outdoor pool. On two mornings, they removed weeds, distributed fresh mulch and planted new flowers in buckets, while they were supported by supervisors, educators and members of the support association. The students, aged 15 to 19, showed great commitment and helpfulness in gardening.

The work teacher Gerd Fuhrmann was on site and taught the young people to deal with various tools, including an electric grout. The sand boxes were also cleaned by the students, which embellished the entire outdoor pool area. The teacher Christine Latzel emphasized the importance of this practical work for the preparation for the profession, a central concern of Erlenschule , which has existed as a state-recognized day education center since 1969 and focuses on the intellectual development of the students. The lessons take place in accordance with the requirements of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture to prepare the students for the professional world.

preparation for the open swimming pool opening

The initiative comes at the right time because the open -air opening is planned for July 4th. Sylke Bischoff, the chair of the association, praised the use of the students as valuable support for the upcoming opening. The association "Our outdoor pool Syke" has around 200 members and is tirelessly campaigning for the preservation of the bathroom after it was threatened with a closure in 2001. Projects are carried out annually to further increase the attractiveness of the bathroom and to maintain it as a leisure attraction for families and children.

Free admission is an important feature of the outdoor pool. The conclusion of the school days is closer and the Erlenschule wants their students to learn to take responsibility and get involved, both in school and in the social environment. These projects reflect a holistic approach that is pursued at the Erlenschule, where learning and life are inseparable.

commitment and community

services such as the embellishment of the outdoor pool are not only a valuable experience for the young people, but also strengthen the sense of community in Syke. Such initiatives are an example of the positive effect that school projects can have on life in the region. For the prospective garden and landscape builders, this project was a practical way to deepen their skills and at the same time to give something back to the community.

The commitment of the students is supported by the diverse offers on the Erlenschule who give young people the opportunity to discover and promote their skills. The combination of practical learning and social commitment not only prepares the students for professional life, but also makes an important contribution to strengthening the community in Syke.

These projects, such as the support of the outdoor pool, are part of the annual efforts to promote the connection between school and community and to create a positive learning experience for everyone involved.
