Ferrari team boss Vasseur on the crisis: everything hangs at the Grand Prix of Spain!
Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur expresses himself dissatisfied with the course of the Formula 1 season 2025. After eight races, the team currently occupies fourth place in the design classification, behind the stronger teams Mercedes and Red Bull. In the run-up to the Grand Prix of Spain, Vasseur draws a mixed conclusion had the overall performance in the first half of the season was rather disappointing. "We have back behind the expectations. That is absolutely clear," he confirmed.
The Ferrari SF-25, the current model of the renowned traditional racing team, takes part in the Formula 1 World Championship this season, with the drivers Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton fight for points. The SF-25 is the last model before new regulations come into force in 2026 and was presented for the first time at the F1 75 live event. The special racing decoration is kept in a darker red tone and gets a striking look thanks to a white strip above the HP logo. For the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Peroni logo was replaced by "Italia 0.0" in order to take into account the regulations for alcohol sponsorship.
performance evaluation and challenges
Despite the subtle progress that were recognizable in races in Dschidda, Imola and Monaco, the competitiveness of the Ferrari SF-25 is still an issue. Vasseur remains optimistic that the team can start the second phase of the season with the recognized pace. In Monaco, Ferrari achieved a respectable second and fifth place, but Leclerc himself sees the slow curves as the greatest weakness compared to the competition. "The good result in Monaco is an exception that is only helpful on extreme routes," he said after the race.
In the first half of the season, both Ferrari drivers qualified in the Australian Grand Prix for the top 10, but only ended the race in places eight and ten. A particularly frustrating event was the disqualification of both drivers in a subsequent race that was due to technical problems. Leclerc, who met with some challenges this season, crashed his car after Aquaplaning in front of an essential sprint race and was therefore unable to start.
The competition and viewer interest
The competition in 2025 is strong. In addition to Mercedes and Red Bull, Ferrari also has to assert themselves against drivers such as Lando Norris and Max Verstappen. The latter appeared less dominant in the previous season, which increases the tension for the fight for the title this season. Overall, the Formula 1 season 2025 comprises impressive 24 races that take place worldwide and continue until December 7, 2025.
The viewer interest in motorsport is enormous in Germany: According to a survey, around 6.5 million Germans are very interested in automotive racing. Formula 1 attracts an average of more than 1.5 million viewers in live broadcasts, and the most exciting duels promise to continue the number of spectators. With such an exciting course of the season, it remains to be seen whether Ferrari can stabilize his performance and whether Lewis Hamilton, who takes on Ferrari in his first season, can further expand his impressive record of 105 Grand Prix victories.
