Research on crisis: Capas examines apocalyptic social issues

The research college Capas at Heidelberg University has dealt with the effects of disasters and end-time scenarios on companies, individuals and the environment in its second funding phase. In parallel to the activities of the Capas, the academy of the disaster research center (AKFS), which was founded in 2016, anchored similar goals in its approach. According to
Akfs , it aims to react quickly and flexibly to current crises and disasters and promotes disaster prevention and coping strategies that focus on social and cultural framework conditions. In their opinion, technical solutions alone are not sufficient to master the complex challenges of the 21st century.

In addition, the Free University of Berlin is actively involved in the discussion of current questions about the KFS working paper series. This series deals with theoretical and methodological approaches in disaster research and offers a platform for a broader discussion.
