Friedrich Nerly, born in Erfurt and died in Venice in 1807 and died in 1878, is considered one of the most important Pleinair painters in Germany. He is also considered a pioneer of open -air painting, which shaped the innovative aesthetics of the Venetian moonlight image. Between the founding of the Erfurt city museum in 1886 and the extensive exhibition of his works in the Angermuseum, which presented numerous pictures for the first time, remarkable stations are in Nerly's life.

CV and artistic development

nerly grew up with his uncle, a musician, after the death of his father in 1815. There he received drawing lessons from his aunt and later from Heinrich Joachim Herterich, who trained him in his lithograph workshop. In the years 1823 to 1828, Nerly was a student of Carl Friedrich von Rumohr, a decisive sponsor with whom he went on a formative journey through the Harz and to Italy. In Rome in 1828, Nerly changed his name to work Italian and played an important role in the artist community.

After his branch in Venice, Nerly dealt intensively with the painting of cityscapes and recognized the special lighting conditions that decisively shaped his visual language. One of his best -known work is the "Piazetta at Mondschein", which he painted in a variety of different perspectives. His marriage to Agathe Alginovich and the award with the knight's cross of the order of the Württemberg crown in 1852 underline its reach and influence in the art scene.

legacy and meaning

After his death, Nerly had that his works in his hometown were given. His entire artistic estate was made available by his son Friedrich Paul Nerly, who also became a painter, to found a museum in Erfurt in 1883. This collection is still the basis of the Angermuseum, which was opened in 1886.

nerly influence extends far beyond his lifetime. His work and techniques have inspired a whole generation of artists and significantly shaped the development of the romantic style in Germany. Prof. Schierz's lecture on June 13th is seen as an important opportunity to appreciate Nerly's heir and his innovative art again, while the successful exhibition in the Angermuseum was extended until July 20. The public perception of his works grew and honors the work of an artistic pioneer.
