Gildefest in Wildeshausen: Rain defies, fireworks inspire 1,000 visitors!
Wildeshauser Burgwiese, 27793 Wildeshausen, Deutschland - The 622nd Wildeshauser Gildefest was officially opened on Pentecost Sunday. Despite the rainy weather, over 1,000 visitors found their way to the event on the Burgwiese in Wildeshausen. The encouragement was significantly lower than in previous years, which is primarily attributed to the unfortunate weather conditions. Mayor Jens Kuraschinski opened the festival and addressed both traditions and current social debates in his speech.
The highlights of the evening included the appearances of the "Spenge game Pipers Vechta", which appeared for the first time in Wildeshausen, as well as the beat and brass band Wildeshausen. The musical performance included a variety of genres, from classic Scottish works to rock classics from ACDC, Toto and Bon Jovi. The Wildeshausen Spielmannszug and various groups of flags also marched.
tradition and honor
As in previous years, the traditional serenade for honorary citizens Manfred Rollié was on the program this year. The 95-year-old was recognized with his desires "My Way" and "I have never been in New York". The Musikkorps Wittekind offered a selection of well -known melodies, while the youth issues such as the participation of girls were up for discussion in the children's rifle festival. A corresponding application was rejected, whereupon Kuraschinski asked for more respect in this debate. A rally of the "Guild for All" initiative is planned for June 13th.
The weather did not play along in between, and there was an interruption of the music performances. Nevertheless, the visitors remained optimistic and continued during the breaks in the marquee and on the market square. The event finally culminated in an impressive fireworks organized by Ralf Fremy. Despite the challenges of the rain, the fireworks, which was accompanied by film music from "Top Gun" and "Jurassic Park", were able to inspire the audience.
the cultural context
festivals such as the guild festival are deeply rooted in tradition and offer an important balance to often hard everyday life. They promote the exchange of information and experiences among people. Historically, they drank, danced and sang together at such events, which strengthens community and cohesion. It remains an exciting challenge to combine the preservation of old traditions with modern thinking and thus keep the cultural heritage alive.
Overall, the Wildeshaus Gildefest is an example of how living traditions can continue even in difficult times. Despite the less large number of audiences, the organizers and visitors showed a lot of commitment and joy in the event.
