Large drug raid in Passau: 55 marijuana plants secured!
In Passau, the police made a terrifying discovery: In a garden, the officers came across a Marijuana plantation that was professionally equipped. During a search with a judicial decision, more than 55 marijuana plants as well as amphetamines and crystal meth were secured. A 47-year-old man was temporarily arrested last Friday. The investigation was initiated by the Passau criminal police inspection in cooperation with the Passau public prosecutor because there is suspicion of illegal trade in narcotics. On Saturday, the suspect was shown to a judge who issued an arrest warrant and brought him to a correctional facility. These incidents reflect a worrying tendency in drug crime, as the current statistics prove.
The situation in Germany is alarming. In 2022, 346,877 drug offenses were registered, which represents an increase of 1.8 % compared to the previous year. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office, around two thirds of these offenses are due to cannabis. In 2023, 207,563 drug offenses were documented in connection with cannabis, with the police secured a total of 450 cannabis plantations, including several professional systems.
professional rearing systems in focus
Another example of increasing professionalization in the field of drug trade was observed in the northern district of Fürstenfeldbruck. There, drug investigators from the criminal police discovered a technically sophisticated marijuana growth in a basement. About 230 grams of already harvested marijuana and numerous marijuana plants were secured in different growth stages. The equipment even included a filter system for smell reduction. The suspicion was directed against a 41-year-old man who has to answer for illegal trade and cultivation in no small amount. These measures were carried out on a search decision by the responsible judge.
The police have increasingly acted against drug crime in recent years. However, the clarification rate has decreased slightly, which underlines the challenges with which the law enforcement authorities are confronted. In addition, the offenses in the area of trade in synthetic drugs, such as amphetamine and ecstasy, have increased in recent years. In 2023, almost 2,000 kg of amphetamine and over 1.1 million ecstasy tablets were secured.
health risks and social effects
The increase in drug offenses not only affects crime statistics, but also on society. In 2023, 2,227 drug -related deaths were registered, which corresponds to an increase of 11.9 % compared to 2022. The average age of the drug deaths is 41 years, with the majority of the victims being men. It is also worrying the increase in mixed instops, in which 1,479 people died of mixed consumption, which means 34 % more than in the previous year.
These developments illustrate the need for preventive measures and comprehensive strategies to combat drug crime in Germany. The police are required to become active at all points in the logistics chain to efficiently prevent illegal trade and consumption.
Further information on drug crime provides the detailed statistics of the Federal Criminal Police Office, which can be found in the current publication. The numbers underline the urgency with which this social displeasure must be addressed.
