Hamburg in triathlon fever: Ironman attracts thousands to the Jungfernstieg!
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Hamburg is transformed into a competition arena! This year's long distance triathlon of the "Ironman European Championship" attracts around 3,000 athletes and tens of thousands of enthusiastic spectators who cheer on the athletes along the route. The start and finish area will be set up on Jungfernstieg this year.
During the event, important roads such as the Lombard Bridge, the Glockengießerwall and the Wallringtunnel to the Deichtorplatz are closed. The bike route in the west of Hamburg to the Hohenzollernring and in the southeast to the Zollenspieker main dike must also be blocked. Good news for travelers: Access to Hamburg Airport remain unaffected by the traffic disruptions.
For current traffic information, the traffic information telephone is available from morning to the afternoon at 040 4286-56565. Hamburg's citizens can contact HVV number 040 19449 for questions about public transport. Be ready to support Hamburg and to cheer on the athletes!
