Reopening of the Hamburg television tower is getting closer!

St. Pauli, Hamburg, Deutschland - The Hamburg television tower, also known as Tele-Michel, is about to open the reopening. Deutsche Freudurm GmbH (DFMG) has submitted a further building application for the renovation of the inside of the tower. This application is considered together with a building application for a new entrance building already submitted in April, which is part of a comprehensive overall concept for reopening the Heinrich Hertz tower for visitors. The television tower, which was opened in 1968, has been closed since 2001 and is under monument protection.

The DFMG is now waiting for the approval of the Hamburg building. "It is unclear when a result can be expected," explains a company spokesman. This uncertainty revolves around a landmark that has not been accessible to the public for over 25 years.

renovation and new use

The DFMG not only plans a renovation, but also the creation of a meeting place for up to 400 people at a height of 130 meters. These publicly accessible areas should enable new use of the mostly vacant tower after the renovation of the renovation. Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, the chairman of the DFMG, expressed optimistic about the course of the approval process and the subsequent steps. After the approval is given, the tendering of the construction work and the start of the renovation work is expected.

The television tower is the most important location for radio supply in Hamburg and is the highest building in the city. However, the planned reopening, which was originally intended for 2023, has been postponed for some time, which is due to the long approval procedures. The DFMG was founded in 2002 and now operates around 35,200 radio locations in Germany.

Hope for an early reopening of the Tele-Michel remains. The Hamburg citizens can look forward to a return of one of the most iconic buildings in the city, which will soon be made accessible to them.
