The speed limit is raised to 50 km/h after the work has been completed, with a restriction of 30 km/h in the area of ​​the hospital.

The country has a financial grant of 2.2 million euros on the renovation costs, whereby the remaining expenses are borne by the municipality. The final work of the renovation should be completed by the end of 2026 at the latest. A third construction phase to the Norderstedter Straße intersection is also being planned.

The renovation of Wilstedter Straße is part of a bigger problem. A study by the German Institute of Urban Studies showed that many streets and bridges in Germany are in need of renovation.
