Customs Giessen achieves 3.1 billion euros - successfully against undeclared work!

In 2024, the Gießen main customs office recorded impressive tax revenue of EUR 3.1 billion, while around 400,000 enforcement cases were processed at the same time. This balance is an increase of 31.9 % for the receipts that have been driven out, which amounted to almost 200 million euros. Under the direction of Uta Ruge, the customs authority is a crucial player in the fight against smuggling and illegal employment in Hesse.

The main customs office took a total of 6,790 plagiarism last year and over 4,000 goods from traffic due to violations of various laws. The confiscation of 5,904 tablets of the drug "Padma 28", which contained a protected plant species, was particularly remarkable. Customs also showed presence in the field of undeclared work: over 3,300 criminal proceedings were initiated and damage of around 18 million euros was revealed. The customs authority announced that it is still committed to working and is looking for trainees and new employees for the coming year.
