Krefeld's retirement homes: New ways in nursing through science!

The University of Cologne and the municipal senior homes Krefeld have signed a pioneering cooperation agreement that runs until May 2030. This cooperation aims to tackle the problem in long -term care and to integrate scientific knowledge into practice faster. Through the project approach "Networking of nursing practice and science in long -term care by the Living Lab approach -Prawilab", a continuous exchange between nursing science and practice is intended to promote institutionally. This was also confirmed by Bibliomed Nursing , which also explains that the Living Lab model in the Netherlands was successfully tried out.

A central goal is to identify challenges that arise from demographic change and a changed health and care system and to develop innovative solutions. Studies show that it can take over ten years for scientific knowledge to be implemented in practice. The project would like to accelerate this process and generate practical research questions that are inspired by specific problems in the facilities.
The deputy head of the Institute for Nursing Science and Scientific Project Manager, Martin Dichter, emphasizes how important the continuous exchange of knowledge is between science and practice.

Living Lab for evidence -based care

The Living Lab offers a platform in which scientists pass on evidence -based knowledge and bring practical representatives to their experiences. The employees employed in the retirement homes benefit from new knowledge and the reflection of their everyday work. At the same time, the scientists receive practical research questions and access to long -term care. The role of the so -called “Linking Pins” is crucial because they act as a connecting person between the areas.

In every district of the retirement homes, local working groups are set up that identify specific topics for scientific processing. These working groups are an important part of the innovative neighborhood concept, which combines stationary care facilities with outpatient services in the immediate vicinity. The aim is to create flexible and tailored solutions for older people in the residential area.

international networking and research

In addition to the national cooperation partners, the project also works internationally. The cooperation with the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg as well as universities in Maastricht, Leeds and Graz extends the range and the influence of nursing research. This international network is part of a comprehensive approach to strengthening evidence -based care in long -term care. According to Health Research BMBF The need for care plays an essential role in this context, since it should support care research in the area of care.

Overall, the cooperation between the University of Cologne and the municipal senior citizens' homes Krefeld is an innovative step towards better care supply. The close cooperation between science and practice will not only increase the quality of care, but also react to the challenges of demographic change.
