More and more young founders: independence is booming in Germany!
In 2024, Germany recorded an increase in start -ups by 17,000 to a total of 585,000. This corresponds to an increase of three percent compared to the previous year. According to the KfW (loan institution for reconstruction), the current developments on the labor market in particular are helping to make more and more people to be founded, often also in the part -time acquisition. The increasing pressure in the world of work has caused many to go into independence.The average age of the founders fell to 34.4 years, which has been the lowest value since the beginning of the surveys. It is striking that 39 percent of the founders were between 18 and 29 years old in 2024, which represents a maximum value for this age group. The KfW study also shows a decline in founders between the ages of 40 and 49 to 16 percent and between the ages of 50 and 65 to 12 percent. Despite the positive development of the foundation figures, the tendency to start the company in Germany remains low. The KfW emphasizes the importance of the foundations for the economy, especially for medium -sized companies, which is crucial for innovations and competitive pressure.

Around 56 percent of the founders needed up to 5,000 euros of start -up capital in 2024, while 75 percent only covered their capital requirements with their own funds. Despite the positive figures, there are also challenges: a third of the founders end the foundation within three years, while 61 percent are still active after five years.
In the future, it is crucial that education and trust in financial issues are promoted in order to further increase the inclination. The new government plans to promote entrepreneurial skills in schools to support the next generation of young founders. KfW sees this an important way to strengthen Germany's competitiveness.
