With a sharp rise in consumer prices, Germany will face new economic challenges in October 2025. Inflation reached 2.3 percent compared to the previous year, as the Tagesschau reports. Experts had previously expected a lower figure of 2.2 percent. The latest result follows an annual high of 2.4 percent in September.
What is surprising to many is the fall in energy prices, which fell by 0.9 percent in October after falling by 0.7 percent in September. The ECB is aiming for an inflation rate of 2 percent in the long term, but warns of possible increases through expansionary financial policy if the economic situation recovers.
