Young talents from Berlin and Brandenburg at the Jugend Forscht-final!
On May 28, 2025, 167 young talents from all over Germany gather in Hamburg to present their innovative projects in the 60th national competition "Jugend forscht". 17 scientists from Berlin and Brandenburg represent the region and show their outstanding work in various disciplines. The final takes place at the Helmut Schmidt University of the Bundeswehr, where a total of 112 projects are presented.
Djamila Ellinger (18) from the Einstein-Gymnasium in Neuenhagen isamong the participants. It has optimized a Grätzelle, an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional solar cells. By producing her own electrolytes and the coating of glass plates with currant juice, she managed to develop a self -made dye solar cell. Their work shows how young researchers can contribute to ecological energy use.
research on dragonfly populations
Another remarkable project comes from Esther Marie Schüler (17) from the Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Gymnasium in Frankfurt (Oder). She examines the dragonfly populations at the Scharmützelsee and Silbersee in Brandenburg. By comparing her own mapping data with official surveys, she aims to better understand the environmental influences on these colorful insects. Schüler convinced the state competition on April 1, 2025 in Schwarzheide and was awarded there.
In addition to these outstanding work, other talents from Brandenburg also appear: Loreley Paul (17, geo- and spatial sciences), Milena Reissmann (16, mathematics/computer science), and Oleg Smoli (20, technology) present their projects. Reißmann has developed a AI to recognize the real time of signalphabet letters, while Paul carries out a photometric examination of a variable star. This diversity shows the high research and innovative strength of young scientists in the region.
The nationwide final and the award ceremony
