Marianne and Michael Hartl: Farewell tour and charity success!
Marianne (72) and Michael Hartl (76), one of the most famous folk music duo in Germany, withdrew on stage last year after half a century. Her last public appearance took place at the Oktoberfest. Michael Hartl, who turns 75 on March 18, can look back on an impressive career that began in the 1970s in the Munich Hotel Platzl. Initially, he appeared as a "Jodler-Michel" because his first name Adolf in Munich was negatively connoted. Together with his wife Marianne, he gave her first concert on July 17, 1973 and published the first record "Rund Samma, G’sund Samma" in 1974.
Together they moderated the popular ZDF shows "Superhit Parade of Folk Music" and "Funny Musicians" from the late 1980s. Her last program together, "Christmas with Marianne and Michael", was broadcast in 2010. The couple received numerous awards, including Bambi, golden tuning fork, crown of folk music and golden hen for life's work. Despite the withdrawal from the stage, Marianne and Michael Hartl remain very much in demand and are often fully booked.
an important charity project
The duo recently organized the tenth "Lederhos’n Cup" in the Golf Club Schloss Egmating near Munich. This charity golf tournament, which was played in Bavarian costume, served an excellent purpose. In the past ten years, a total of 725,000 euros have been donated to 91 aid organizations and clubs. Michael Hartl expressed gratitude for the success of the tournament and emphasized how important such projects are for the community.
After their retreat, the couple plans to spend more time together, travel and play golf. Among the hobbies by Michael Hartl are also the writing of a children's book, inspired by stories by his grandmother, and the organization of a sheep's head round table. In addition, the duo continues to be involved in the needy through its “Happy Heart” association.
A look into the future
The Hartls have two sons and four grandchildren and strive to enjoy their new phase of life as grandparents and couples. Marianne Hartl has recently mentioned an unusual operation of what fans got. Michael Hartl also had a stroke two years ago, while Marianne had broken his shoulder just before. Nevertheless, both look optimistically into the future.
In a further context, the importance of traditional music for folk culture is to be mentioned, which also shapes the work of Marianne and Michael Hartl. The Center for Traditional Music promotes the ethnic and regional identity through lessons and presentation of traditional music, which serves to preserve cultural heritage. These values are also important to Marianne and Michael, who contribute to strengthening these traditions through their music and commitment.
The two icons of folk music now enjoy their life in nature and take on their new challenges with the desire to experience peace in Europe and the world and to create a better future for the youth. Michael Hartl wants people to listen to more and to develop tolerance towards other cultures.
In this sense, Marianne and Michael Hartl are a shining example of how music and cultural engagement are interwoven and can enrich people's lives.
