Bundeswehr invests 525 million euros in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania!

The Bundeswehr plans to upgrade its military infrastructure in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with over 525 million euros by 2029. These investments affect various locations in the Ludwigslust-Parchim region and include numerous construction measures that serve the modernization and the expansion of military facilities. Among other things, the funds are used for energy -based renovation, new buildings and conversion measures in order to meet the requirements of a modern army. The measures should not only integrate the military but also the civilian area.

For the base of the Panzergrenadier Battalion 401 in Hagenow, around 15 million euros are planned. Part of this comprehensive planning are the construction of a new training hall for the Puma fire baffling and a new accommodation building for soldiers. A total of ten construction measures in Hagenow also include expanding electricity and water supply.

Overall, over 300 military construction projects are planned in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the period from 2025 to 2029. This includes a wide range of projects that aim to improve military performance in the region and to secure the long term.

largest construction sites in the region

The largest military construction site in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the Laage air base, where around 60 construction measures with a total volume of around 220 million euros are planned. The expansion of the Müritz barracks into goods also requires significant investments of 95 million euros. The Werder barracks in Schwerin also receives around 40 million euros, whereby a significant part of these funds is intended for civilian construction work. The Werder-Kaserne houses the State Command Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and the Bundeswehr training and further education, which provides accommodation for around 280 soldiers.

The planned investments and construction measures of the Bundeswehr reflect the efforts to strengthen the military infrastructure in Germany and to adapt to the increased requirements. These projects, which aim at comprehensive modernization, are part of a number of strategic initiatives that are intended to improve the willingness and efficiency of the Bundeswehr in the long term.
