A violent storm hit the town of Bergheim on Wednesday afternoon. The fire brigade was on duty until the evening hours to deal with the consequences of the forces of nature. The districts of Niederaußem and Oberaußem were particularly affected, where the weather conditions required numerous operations. On Brieystrasse, several trees fell onto the road and a street lamp snapped under the weight of the falling branches. The road had to be closed temporarily. Emergency services secured loose roof tiles on a residential building on Alte Landstrasse to prevent further damage.
