Leisure opportunities in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district: Praise and criticism!
In the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, leisure activities are perceived as quite appealing. An extensive survey has shown that citizens rate the leisure activities on average with 6.85 points on a scale of 1 to 10. The results show a diverse picture of leisure opportunities and the relationship between communities and clubs. While sporting and club life received an average rating of 6.03 points, certain communities stood out particularly positively.
In Balow, for example, the relationship between clubs and communities is even rated at 8.88 points, which indicates close cooperation and high levels of satisfaction among citizens. Zarrentin stands out with 7.44 points, which is due to the beautiful location in the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve and can be attributed to the well-developed hiking trails.
A variety of leisure activities
There is a wide range of leisure activities on offer in the region. With 6.83 points, Sternberg is above the district average for the club's situation and is recognized with 6.86 points for leisure activities in the fresh air. Groß Laasch also receives a respectable 7.64 points for its sports and club offerings. Warlow can look forward to an impressive 8.10 points for its club landscape and 8 points for leisure activities.
On the other hand, there are also communities whose ratings are rather low. Wöbbelin received 3.92 points for sports and clubs and Grebs-Niendorf only received 2.75 points, a less than pleasing result. However, satisfaction with the club's situation does not seem to depend on the size of the community or the number of clubs, because cities in beautiful nature such as Plau am See and their 8.12 points for the club landscape and 8.15 points for leisure activities show how much influence the surrounding area has.
The survey reached a total of 2,386 participants from the district, while more than 16,000 people were able to express their opinions in various categories as part of the large home check. The next results will be published in the areas of family & children and quality of life.
Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve
The biosphere reserve Schaalsee plays a crucial role in the region's leisure activities. With its area of 162 km² and the deepest lake in northern Germany, it is a true natural paradise. Shaped by glaciers and meltwater from the last ice age, the region offers a rich flora and fauna.
Special botanical falcons and a variety of bird species, including cranes, otters and sea eagles, can be observed here. The well-developed hiking trails and cycling networks of over 180 km invite you to explore. For those interested, there is information material and the opportunity to take part in events on the nature and history of the region at the PAHLHUUS in Zarrentin.
A study by the Federal Environment Ministry recently confirmed that tourism and nature conservation are not mutually exclusive. Biosphere reserves are emphasized as being important for nature conservation as well as being attractive destinations for visitors. More than 71 million visit days are recorded annually in these reserves, contributing to regional value creation and supporting the local economy.
With a gross added value of 3.84 billion euros and the creation of income opportunities for more than 77,000 people, biosphere reserve tourism is an important stimulus for the development of the region.
