Health day inspires 211 participants in the multi-generational house in Lübz!
The health day of the Ludwigslust-Parchim job center recently took place in the multi-generation house (MGH) in Lübz. This event attracted 211 highly interested visitors and offered a colorful program to promote health, social support and prevention. Petra Weis, the representative for equal opportunities in the labor market, welcomed the participants. The event was supported by numerous organizations, including the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Association for Health Promotion and the Diakoniewerk Kloster Dobbertin.
The health day turned out to be a real crowd puller and offered numerous offers that were all about a healthy lifestyle. The tips on heat protection in the workplace and various project offers for older people were particularly popular. The guests were able to take part in a wide range of counseling services, including individual psychological counseling, debt and addiction counseling, and assistance services in the district. Joint activities, such as preparing healthy dips and smoothies or Nordic walking, also ensured lively exchanges and a lot of fun.
Health and prevention in focus
The aim behind such events is to raise awareness of health and the importance of prevention. Health days like this are just one part of a larger framework being promoted in many cities and towns to improve overall health conditions. According to a report by Health Promotion Switzerland, such programs are central to supporting children, young people and older people in the areas of nutrition, exercise and mental health. The implementation of such projects is made easier with a cantonal action program (KAP) that addresses the specific needs of the regions gesundheitsfoerderung.ch.
The Pact for the Public Health Service, published by the Federal Ministry of Health in 2024, also aims to help municipalities to sustainably implement health promotion and prevention at the local level bpb.de. When we look at the successes of such initiatives, it is clear that in order to effectively design and evaluate these programs, communities must be actively involved in the implementation.
The participants in the health day expressed their wish for the health offerings to continue in the coming years. Nevertheless, the situation is tense: funding for the current project expires at the end of 2025, and discussions about its continuation are already in the starting blocks. Such discussions are essential in order to maintain and expand the valuable offerings in the future.
Overall, the Health Day in Lübz shows how important it is to inform and engage people about the possibilities for health promotion and prevention. The variety of offers and the positive response from visitors are evidence of the good hand that the organizers have shown.
