Lübz-Hamburg school partnership: 1000 euros for friendship project!
Class 6a at the Lübz Regional School has reason to be happy: They are planning a visit to their partner school class 6b at the “Am Heidberg” district school in Hamburg. The trip is made possible thanks to micro-project funding of 1,000 euros, which was applied for from the Ludwigslust-Parchim district youth association. On July 1st, Dunja Krachenfels, the participation moderator, presented a symbolic check to the class representatives Thekla and Lennard. This shows how many young people are involved in the project and consider it particularly valuable. A four-person committee of students supported the application to realize this intercultural event.
The preparations are already in full swing: On April 29th and 30th, the Hamburg students visited the school in Lübz, where they took part in a school rally and a city tour. During their stay, the students painted friendship hands, which unfortunately could not be completed. The aim of the project is to get to know each other, find common ground, better understand the different school systems and experience cultural diversity. In between, creative tasks were also on the agenda: the students drew stick figures of themselves and wrote letters to their partners in Hamburg. To make the exchange even more personal, a video conference was even organized.
An exciting return visit is imminent
The return visit to Hamburg is already planned for July 14th, while the return trip is scheduled for July 15th. In order to promote creative exchange, the students take the pictures they have started with them to Hamburg to complete them together there. Such school partnerships not only show how important intercultural encounters are, but also how they help to promote tolerance and an understanding of diversity. This is also reflected in the offers supported by the initiative [auslandsschulwesen.de](https://www.auslandsschulwesen.de/DE/Schulnetz/Toleranz_Verkehr/ Offers_Schuelerinnen_Schueler/angebote_schuelerinnen_schueler_node.html), which aim to strengthen responsible behavior and mutual understanding.
Promoting intercultural projects is not only a way to educate students about cultural differences, but also helps to create awareness of one's own identity and that of others. As [schule-bw.de]. School projects like this offer an excellent opportunity to expand lessons beyond the traditional framework and to specifically promote student diversity.
In times when intercultural understanding and tolerance are more in demand than ever, such projects can make a decisive contribution to building bridges between different cultures. This is particularly important in a school context, as schools function as places of lived democracy and students become apprentices in matters of responsibility and respect - a path that also has its place in the work of student representatives. Having a good hand promotes cooperation and makes life more colorful. And with this trip to Hamburg, another step is taken on the path to better coexistence.
