Last weekend there were several traffic accidents on Autobahn 24 in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district, which were reported by the North Police Department. The first incident occurred on August 8th at around 12:30 p.m. between Herzsprung and Neuruppin in the direction of Berlin.
A 69-year-old driver, who was possibly traveling too fast, collided with a stationary vehicle. Fortunately, he was only slightly injured, while property damage amounting to around 15,000 euros was caused. Only a short time later, at 1:50 p.m. on the same day, there was another accident between Kremmen and Fehrbellin. A 52-year-old driver overlooked another car while changing lanes, which resulted in additional property damage of around 10,000 euros.
An unfortunate weekend on the A24
On August 9th, three more accidents occurred on the same section of the highway. Fortunately, no one was injured in these incidents, but the total damage amounted to more than 30,000 euros. The A24 is known for its accident frequency, which is due to the significant traffic frequency between Berlin and Hamburg. In particular, the sections of the route at the Schwerin intersection, Wittstock triangle and Neuruppin are among the critical points, as Tag24 reports.
Another incident that concerned the highway police on August 9th was the discovery of license plate misuse. A 76-year-old driver had an incorrect license plate attached to his bike rack, which led to criminal proceedings being initiated.
